Sun Valley Plantation
Nature
Sun Valley Plantation is a family-run working farm in Oracabessa, St. Mary, offering hands-on agricultural tours through fields of tropical fruit, spices, and traditional Jamaican crops. Guided walks cover the cultivation of sugarcane, coconut, banana, cocoa, coffee, allspice, and dozens of tropical fruit varieties - guides encourage visitors to taste directly from the trees, including soursop, star apple, jackfruit, and ortanique in season. The tour also demonstrates traditional methods of processing sugarcane juice, making coconut oil, and roasting coffee. A highlight is the tropical juice bar where fresh fruit is blended into drinks you would struggle to find anywhere else. The plantation sits in the lush interior of St. Mary parish, surrounded by the kind of productive agricultural landscape that once covered most of Jamaica's north coast before tourism development. The experience is intimate and educational - groups are small, and the family who operates the farm shares genuine knowledge passed through generations. Sun Valley makes a good pairing with nearby Firefly or GoldenEye. Aurum Transfers delivers you from Ian Fleming Airport (OCJ) in about 30 minutes for $90 for up to four guests, with Starlink WiFi.
