Hanover Museum (Old Jail)
Cultural
Hanover Museum is a small heritage museum in Hanover Parish, Jamaica, housed in the former parish jail building adjacent to the Lucea Courthouse on the main square. The museum displays artifacts from Hanover's colonial history including Taino pottery fragments, sugar plantation tools, and documents related to the parish's role in the Christmas Rebellion of 1831. The old jail building itself dates to the Georgian period, with original iron cell doors and thick stone walls visible during the tour. The museum provides context for understanding Lucea's importance as a colonial port town and administrative centre. Hanover Museum sits directly beside the Lucea Clock Tower and Fort Charlotte. Aurum Transfers provides private airport transfers from Sangster International Airport (MBJ) starting at $150 for up to four guests, with complimentary Starlink WiFi. The 1 hour drive from MBJ follows the coast west through Rose Hall into Lucea.
