Kenilworth Ruins
Historic Site
Kenilworth Ruins is the remnant of one of Jamaica's largest sugar estates in Hanover Parish, located near the town of Hopewell between Montego Bay and Lucea. Built in the 18th century, the estate once included a great house, sugar works, and enslaved workers' quarters. Today the ruins feature crumbling stone walls, arched doorways, and the remains of the sugar processing factory including the boiling house and waterwheel foundations. Kenilworth provides a sobering window into Jamaica's plantation history and the sugar economy that shaped the island. The ruins sit off the main coastal highway, roughly 20 minutes east of Lucea town centre. Aurum Transfers provides private airport transfers from Sangster International Airport (MBJ) starting at $150 for up to four guests, with complimentary Starlink WiFi. The 1 hour drive from MBJ heads west along the coast through Rose Hall into Hanover.
