Folly Ruins
Historic Site
Folly Ruins is a crumbling early 20th-century mansion in Portland Parish, Jamaica, standing on Folly Point at the eastern edge of Port Antonio's East Harbour. Built in 1905 by American millionaire Alfred Mitchell for his wife Annie Harvey, the grand concrete mansion began deteriorating within a decade because seawater was used in the concrete mix, causing the steel reinforcements to corrode. The roofless two-storey structure with its remaining columns and arched windows has become one of Portland's most photographed landmarks and a symbol of faded grandeur. Folly Ruins sits adjacent to Folly Lighthouse with views of Monkey Island and the Caribbean horizon. Aurum Transfers provides private airport transfers from Ian Fleming International Airport (OCJ) starting at $465 for up to four guests, with complimentary Starlink WiFi and cold beverages. The 2 hour drive from OCJ passes through Oracabessa and Buff Bay.
