Discovery Bay
Landmark
Discovery Bay is a sheltered harbour town in St. Ann Parish, Jamaica, traditionally identified as the landing site of Christopher Columbus in 1494, making it one of the most historically significant locations on the island. The bay features calm turquoise waters, a public beach, and Columbus Park, an open-air museum overlooking the harbour. The town sits between Runaway Bay and Ocho Rios on the north coast, surrounded by limestone hills and bauxite mining operations. Discovery Bay is home to the University of the West Indies Marine Laboratory, which conducts coral reef research in the bay's protected waters. Aurum Transfers provides private airport transfers from Ian Fleming International Airport (OCJ) starting at $95 for up to four guests, with complimentary Starlink WiFi. The 40 minute drive from OCJ heads west along the coast through Runaway Bay.
