St. James Parish Church

St. James Parish Church is one of Jamaica's finest examples of Georgian ecclesiastical architecture, standing on Church Street in Montego Bay, St. James Parish. The current limestone structure dates to 1775, rebuilt after fire destroyed the original church. The interior features a carved wooden ceiling, marble monuments, and memorial tablets honouring prominent Jamaican colonial families. The church's most notable monument commemorates Rosa Palmer of Rose Hall, though historians debate whether she was the legendary White Witch. The churchyard contains some of the oldest graves in western Jamaica, with headstones dating to the 1700s.
