Montego Bay Yacht Club

Landmark

Founded in 1936, the Montego Bay Yacht Club operates from the Montego Freeport peninsula and serves as the hub for recreational sailing, sport fishing, and maritime events along Jamaica's north coast. The club hosts the annual Montego Bay Race Week and various regattas that draw sailors from across the Caribbean. Non-members can often access the club's restaurant and bar, which sits directly on the waterfront with views across the harbour toward the Blue Mountains. The marina accommodates visiting yachts and offers full docking services. The club also serves as the home base for deep-sea fishing charters - wahoo, marlin, dolphinfish (mahi-mahi), and yellowfin tuna are the primary targets in the deep waters off Jamaica's north coast. The yacht club's relatively low-key atmosphere offers a different perspective on Montego Bay - away from the resort strip and closer to the city's working maritime culture. It sits adjacent to the Montego Bay Marine Park Trust headquarters at Pier One. Aurum Transfers delivers you from MBJ Airport to the Freeport in about 25 minutes for $85 for up to four guests, with Starlink WiFi.
