Half Moon Equestrian Centre

Set within the 400-acre Half Moon resort - now part of the Salamander Collection - this equestrian centre maintains a stable of around 28 horses and offers one of the most distinctive riding experiences in the Caribbean: horseback swimming. Riders take a guided trail through the resort's tropical grounds before wading into the warm Caribbean Sea on horseback, an experience that runs about 45 minutes and is open to beginners and experienced riders alike. Standard beach rides, pony rides for children, and lessons with certified instructors round out the programme. The centre sits alongside the Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed Half Moon golf course, within easy reach of the resort's private crescent beach and spa facilities. Non-resort guests can book riding sessions directly. The facility has been operating for decades and is one of the few in Jamaica to offer ocean riding. Helmets and basic instruction are provided.
