Mammee Bay sits on Jamaica's north coast just west of Ocho Rios, and it is one of those rare destinations where the country's most famous attraction is literally at your doorstep. Dunn's River Falls, the 180-foot cascade that has graced a million postcards, is right here. So are beachfront all-inclusives, dolphin encounters, a rainforest bobsled track, and some of the best jerk chicken on the island.

Jamaica's most famous waterfall meets a tight cluster of beachfront all-inclusives, authentic jerk smoke, and dolphin encounters. This is Mammee Bay.

Getting to Mammee Bay

Mammee Bay is accessible from all three of Jamaica's international airports. Here is what each transfer looks like:

Transfer Pricing

All prices are for up to four guests in a private vehicle with Starlink satellite WiFi, cold water, air conditioning, and a JTB-certified driver.

If you are flying into OCJ, Mammee Bay is just a short ride from the terminal. For guests arriving at MBJ, the north coast route is one of the most scenic drives in Jamaica, passing through the historic town of Falmouth and the quiet resort community of Runaway Bay.

Where You Will Stay

Mammee Bay is compact but packed with quality. The resorts here are beachfront, well-established, and surrounded by attractions rather than isolated from them.

Top Resorts

  • Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort & Spa -- All-inclusive beachfront property directly adjacent to Dunn's River Falls. Walk from your room to the base of the falls.

  • Riu Ocho Rios -- Large-scale all-inclusive on a long stretch of beach. Family-friendly with multiple restaurants and pools.

  • Sandals Dunn's River -- Couples-only all-inclusive from the Sandals brand. Premium dining, overwater bar, and a prime beachfront location.

Residential and Villa Options

  • Drax Hall Country Club -- Gated residential community popular with returning visitors and long-stay guests. The area has a local feel that resort zones often lack.

  • Drax Hall Manor -- Private villa accommodation in the Drax Hall area, offering more space and independence than a hotel room.

What to Do in Mammee Bay

The concentration of attractions in and around Mammee Bay is one of the highest on the island. Three world-class experiences sit within minutes of every property in the zone.

Dunn's River Falls

Jamaica's signature attraction. This 180-foot terraced waterfall flows directly into the Caribbean Sea, and the traditional experience is climbing it: linking hands in a human chain and working your way up the natural rock steps with water cascading around you.

The falls are open daily, and guides are available to lead you up. Wear water shoes with grip (they are available for rent at the entrance). The climb takes roughly forty-five minutes to an hour, and it is suitable for most fitness levels. Children can participate with a guide.

At the base, a beach allows you to cool off after the climb. The park includes gardens, craft vendors, and food stalls.

Dolphin Cove Ocho Rios

Located adjacent to Dunn's River Falls, Dolphin Cove offers swimming and interaction programmes with dolphins in a natural cove. Beyond dolphins, the park features shark encounters, stingray interactions, a jungle trail, and a beach. It is one of the most popular family attractions on the north coast.

Rainforest Bobsled at Mystic Mountain

Inspired by Jamaica's famous 1988 Olympic bobsled team, the Rainforest Bobsled at Mystic Mountain takes you through 1,000 metres of track carved into the hillside above Ocho Rios. The experience begins with a chairlift ride through the canopy, offering panoramic views of the coast. At the top, you board the bobsled and control your own speed on the way down.

Mystic Mountain also offers a zipline canopy tour, an infinity pool, a waterslide, and a hummingbird garden. It is a full-day destination if you want it to be.

A Typical Day in Mammee Bay

Here is what a well-planned day in the zone looks like:

Morning: Climb Dunn's River Falls early, before the cruise ship crowds arrive. The falls open at 8:30 AM, and the first hour is the quietest.

Midday: Walk to Dolphin Cove for a dolphin swim programme. Cool off on the cove's beach and grab lunch at the park.

Afternoon: Head up the hill to Mystic Mountain for the bobsled and zipline. The views from the chairlift are best in afternoon light.

Evening: Return to your resort for dinner, or head into downtown Ocho Rios for jerk chicken at Scotchies or seafood at the Ocho Rios Bay Beach strip.

Beyond the Zone: Day Trips from Mammee Bay

Mammee Bay's central north coast location makes it an excellent base for exploring. With Aurum's On-Call Chauffeur Service, you get a dedicated driver and premium SUV with Starlink WiFi, starting at $450 for three hours or $800 for six hours.

Popular day trips from Mammee Bay include:

  • Blue Hole (Ocho Rios) -- A hidden swimming hole in the hills above Ocho Rios. Rope swings, cliff jumps, and crystal-clear water.

  • Fern Gully -- A three-mile road through a canopy of giant ferns, once the bed of a river.

  • Konoko Falls -- A quieter waterfall experience than Dunn's River, with a botanical garden and bird aviary.

  • Green Grotto Caves -- Limestone caves in Runaway Bay with underground lakes and a history of smuggling and runaway Spaniards.

Why Guests Choose Aurum for Mammee Bay

  • Fixed pricing for up to four guests -- From $125 (OCJ), $275 (MBJ), or $370 (KIN). No surge pricing.

  • Meet and greet -- Inside the terminal at MBJ and KIN. Right outside arrivals at OCJ.

  • Real-time flight tracking -- We adjust for delays automatically. No calls needed.

  • Starlink satellite WiFi -- Connected from the moment you leave the airport.

  • Local knowledge -- We are based right here in Drax Hall, in the Mammee Bay zone. This is our home turf.

Mammee Bay packs more iconic Jamaica experiences into a smaller area than anywhere else on the island. The falls, the dolphins, the bobsled, the beach, and the jerk smoke are all here, all within minutes of each other.
